Book Review: Ascent from Darkness

Ascent from Darkness by Michael Leehan is a powerful and moving story about how he overcame the control of Satan in his life when he found God's love. Michael lost friends, family, jobs, and trust as he dove deeper into the darkness. Satan had control over his body and spirit. Michael would loose memories of previous nights, and wake up with deep cuts on his body from rituals. Satan had Michael make blood sacrifices, and he gave Michael murderous assignments.

Michael's testimony shows that God's love conquers all sin. It lets readers know that no matter how terrible their sin may be, God will forgive them. It shows readers how gracious and loving God is.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading his story. At moments I had knots in my stomach when I was reading about the noises and voices that Michael would hear when he was alone, and how much of a hold that Satan had on his life. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading powerful testimonies, or anyone who feels that feels hopeless and lost and is looking for an answer. The answer is God, and Michael's story proves that God can use anyone for His glory.
